Prime Time Giving “dissidents” Publicity Is Wrong

Having watching the sickening spectacle of a masked CIRA terrorist appearing on Prime Time last night, I lodged the following complaint with RTE last night:

I find it utterly inappropriate that our Public Service Broadcaster gives the oxygen of publicity to CIRA terrorists, who representative cowardly hides his identity and used the opportunity solely to justify their illegal and hate ridden murderous campaign.

Such publicity can only serve to legitimise their existence and lead to further murders of the innocent by there terrorists.”

Is it time to phase out payments to long-term unemployed ?

The proposal to  to phase out payments to long-term unemployed isn’t a unique idea, in fact its standard policy in many other EU countries, and now needs to be considered carefully and fairly here.

As a tax payer I strongly believe that the State should help those who can’t help themselves or those that fall on hard times, although I don’t believe that help should last indefinitely for those that are capable of providing for themselves.

FG/Lab Govt’s Attack on Pensioners is Disgusting

The announcement today that the FG/Labour coalition has decided pensioners will no be longer exempt from passport charges is disgusting and will not be forgetten by our senior citizens.

Thanks to the FF led Govt in 2005 over 65s were entitled to get their passports for free, but they will now have to pay €95, which is the new cost of a standard 10 year passport.

What is truely amazing is that the Government thinks its OK to attack pensioners to save a mere €3.6m; whilst so far has ignored Welfare and Public Service Pay, both of which cost the state €20,000m per annum!  Cracking down on welfare fraud alone would save the state a thousand times more than picking on vunerable pensioners.

Tweet from Wicklow Sinn Fein represents a mindset yet to be decommissioned

Whilst the message may have been sent using modern technology, its clear the SF mindset is still rooted in a dark and almost forgotten past, regrettably proving yet again Baron Gerry Adam’s comment “They haven’t gone away you know” still holds true today.
